Redesign an accessible website
of the Vocational Training Council

This project focuses on redesigning an existing website to make it more accessible to all users. The aim is to ensure that everyone, including people with disabilities, can use the website effectively and without difficulty. Users can easily and clearly check the test information here.

Background

VTC is the largest vocational education, training and professional development group in Hong Kong. The webpage provides their students with information on vocational aptitude tests such as eligibility and registration methods.

Challenge

There are many types of exams, and the exam materials for each profession need to be clearly displayed.
Since the main users are middle-aged people, the use of the website should be as simple as possible.
It needs to comply with the Hong Kong government's accessibility webpage requirements.

Design Goals

Readability

The design should comply with accessibility guidelines and clearly present the content.

Usability

Website should be simple and easy to operate.

Consistency

The design should be able to present the exam information neatly and uniformly.

Design Strategy

Comply with WCAG guidelines
Improve the readability of the webpage to ensure that people of different ages and abilities can use it conveniently.
Simplify the click process
Make it easier for users to understand web operations and accurately find the required exam content.
Use color for classification, preferably simple primary colors
Colors are utilized to differentiate between three primary categories of exams, with the use of simple shades to minimize visual clutter in information-dense areas.
